Matt Bruneteau starts his first season as an assistant coach at Alaska Anchorage in 2018-19.
Bruneteau (pronounced brew-KNEE-toe) joins the Seawolves after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Stevenson University (MD). He helped start the program at Stevenson and led the Mustangs to the 2018 Mid-Atlantic Conference Championship with an 11-8-7 record.
Bruneteau appeared in 146 games as a defenseman at Lake Superior (2010-14) and served as captain of the Lakers. He earned the LSSU Jim Howie Unsung Hero Award three times and was a finalist for the Derek Hines Unsung Hero Award.
Bruneteau played professionally for the Fort Wayne Komets and Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL and spent two seasons with the Strasbourg Etoile Noire in Ligue Magnus.
Bruneteau, a WCHA All-Academic Team selection, earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Lake Superior State in 2014.
