ANCHORAGE – Alaska Anchorage volleyball head coach Chris Green announced his team’s 2009 schedule on Tuesday, including the field and matchups for the annual Extended Stay Deluxe Invitational.

The Seawolves will play 30 matches in total this fall – one exhibition, 13 non-league tilts, and 16 Great Northwest Athletic Conference contests.

The season kicks off Aug. 22 with a free exhibition match against Seawolf alumni, followed the next weekend by the annual ESD Invitational.

Joining the defending champion Seawolves for this year’s Extended Stay Deluxe tourney are fellow NCAA Division II squads Academy of Art (Calif.), Univ. of Mary (N.D.) and Kentucky Wesleyan. The four squads will compete in a round-robin format Aug. 28-29 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

The rest of UAA’s non-conference schedule includes trips to San Diego for the Triton Invitational and Honolulu for the Hawaii Pacific Invitational, plus a road match against NAIA foe Rocky Mountain.

UAA begins play in the always-rugged GNAC on Sept. 19, when it hosts Montana State Billings at the WFSC.

All home matches are set for 7 p.m., except for the Alumni match, which will start at 9 p.m. as part of UAA’s Campus Kickoff celebration.
