BOWLING GREEN, OHIO – No. 17 Bowling Green rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Alaska Anchorage 3-2 Saturday.

“We responded with great effort tonight,” said head coach Matt Thomas. “Unfortunate to lose that game late, but our group battled together and stuck together.”

Tad Kozun put the Seawolves on the board first after scoring his fifth goal of the season at 7:22 of the first period. Kozun scored on a scrum in front of the net with assists to Jordan Xavier and Alex Jackstadt.

Alec Butcher scored his first career goal for the Green and Gold with only seconds remaining in the opening period. Butcher got around a defender before beating BGSU goalie Eric Dop top shelf.

Chris Pholkamp scored for Bowling Green at 6:48 of the second for the only goal of the period.

Max Johnson tied the game at 2-2 with his seventh goal of the season on the powerplay at 1:09 of the third period.

Brandon Kruse tallied his third point of the evening with his game-winning goal at 13:03.

The Seawolves pulled Mantha, who finished with 37 saves, with 90 seconds remaining but could not score the equalizer.

The Falcons led 40-24 in shots and finished 1-for-7 on the powerplay.

UAA was 0-for-4 on the powerplay that included two that were shortened due to UAA penalties and the fourth covered the final 14 seconds of regulation.

Alaska Anchorage will host Northern Michigan Jan. 26-27.
