BEMIDJI, MINN. – Jay Dickman scored a hat trick to lead Bemidji State to a 5-1 win over Alaska Anchorage Friday.

Myles Fitzgerald gave the Beavers an early lead with his fifth goal of the season 42 seconds into the game.

Jay Dickman followed up with goals at 16:08 and 18:08 of the first.

Jarrett Brown got the Seawolves on the scoreboard with his second goal of the season 20 seconds into the second period. Tad Kozun and Alex Jackstadt recorded assists.

Jay Dickman completed the hat trick at 14:35 of the second. He would record his fourth point of the evening with an assist on Myles Fitzgerald’s second goal of the game at 1:01 of the third period. Kyle Bauman recorded an assist on the goal, his fourth of the game.

“We need to be better to start games,” said head coach Matt Thomas. “We can’t expect to win when we spot teams early leads.”

The Beavers out-shot the Seawolves 40-22.

Both squads finished 0-3 on the power play.

Olivier Mantha finished with 35 saves for UAA.

Alaska Anchorage (1-12-4, 1-7-3) and Bemidji State (6-6-5, 3-4-4) will close out the season series Saturday.
