ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – The University of Alaska Anchorage scored two WCHA points after a shootout win over Michigan Tech at Sullivan Arena Friday.

Thomas Beretta scored the lone Husky goal on the powerplay at 2:20 of the first period.

Austin Azurdia extended his scoring streak to four games with his team-leading sixth goal of the season at 15:35 of the first. Azurdia scored with a back-hand shot through the five-hole. Jonah Renouf, who tallied a career-high three assists in the team’s last game at UAH, recorded his sixth assist of the season on the goal. Jarrett Brown also earned an assist.

MTU led 39-16 in shots but no one could find the back of the net in regulation or two overtime periods.

Neither team scored in the shootout until the fifth round when Corey Renwick scored for UAA.

Olivier Mantha turned in a stellar game with 38 saves, including a save on each of the first four MTU shots in the shootout. The Huskies shot sailed wide of the goal in the fifth round.

MTU finished 1-5 on the powerplay, and UAA was 0-2.

UAA (1-7-3, 1-2-2) and MTU (5-6-3, 3-5-3) will battle again Saturday.
