TOAS / RED RIVER, N.M. – The Alaska Anchorage ski team
concluded the 2010 Jade Enterprises / New Mexico Invitational in seventh place
among other Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association members on Saturday
morning with the slalom and freestyle races.
The Seawolves posted a season-low 573 points, while host New
Mexico skied to victory with 961 points. The Colorado Buffalos finished second
with 801 points as the Denver Pioneers racked up 785 points for third place.
UAA received a team-high seventh-place finish from freshman
Petra Gantnerova in the women’s slalom race. Gantnerova finished the two-run
event with a time of 1 minute, 44.55 seconds.
On the Nordic trails, the Seawolves were paced by an
eighth-place finish by sophomore Laura Rombach. Rombach completed the course in
a time of 31 minutes, 42.7 seconds for her second top-10 finish of the weekend.
The Seawolves will have the next weekend off before
traveling to Sugar Bowl and Truckee, Calif., for the Nevada Invitational on
Feb. 19-20.
