THIS WEEK: The Alaska Anchorage Seawolves will play host to the No. 2/3 Denver Pioneers in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at the Sullivan Arena on Nov. 6-7. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:07 p.m. AST both nights.

THE SERIES - UAA vs. Denver
Overall: DU leads 39-14-5 At UAA: DU leads 17-7-4
Last Meeting: March 14, 2009 -First Round (DU won, 4-3) Streak: DU 2

Notes: Last season UAA and DU met four times, once during regular season and in the 1st round ... the teams split the regular-season matchup, with DU wining on Jan. 30, 2009 (6-2), followed by a 3-2 OT Seawolf win on Jan. 31 ... the Pioneers swept the first round on March 13-14 in two one-goal games (3-2, 4-3) ... in the last 10 meetings, DU leads 9-1-0 ... the last time the two teams met at the Sullivan was on Dec. 15, 2007 (DU won, 6-2) ... the last home win for the Seawolves against the Pioneers was on Jan. 29, 2000 (2-1).

SCOUTING DENVER: Denver travels to Anchorage undefeated in conference play (3-0-1) and with only two losses overall (vs. Vermont and Ohio State) ... DU is tied for first in the conference with Colorado College with 7 points ... last weekend, DU played host to Minnesota State at Magness Arena, winning on Oct. 30 (4-3) and tying on Oct. 31 (4-4 OT) ... on Oct. 23-24, the Pioneers swept Minnesota on the road, shutting out the Gophers, 3-0 in both games ... leading DU offensively are senior forwards Rhett Rakhshani (4-5-9) and Tyler Ruegsegger (4-4-8) ... leading from the blue line is sophomore Patrick Wiercioch (1-6-7) ... backstopping the defensive end is junior goaltender Marc Cheverie (4-0-0), who leads the WCHA in GAA (1.27), save percentage (.959) and winning percentage (1.000) ... due to an injury on Oct. 30, it is likely that Cheverie will not suit up against UAA ... between the pipes will be an Anchorage native, freshman Adam Murray (1-2-1, .856 Sv%, 4.27 gaa).

MINNESOTA SWEEPS SERIES WITH UAA: Last weekend, the Seawolves were swept by the host Gophers in the Friday-Sunday series, 5-1 and 4-1 ... on Oct. 30, the Seawolves got on the board first with a power-play tally from junior F Nick Haddad, before the Gophers responded with five unanswered goals ... junior G Bryce Christianson posted a season-high 29 saves in the loss ... on Sunday afternoon, Minnesota scored its first power-play goal of the season, followed by two more tallies before UAA freshman F Mickey Spencer sent a wrist shot through traffic for his first career goal ... UM added one more goal 19 seconds later for the final.

SEAWOLVES BITES: The Gophers picked up their first and second victories of the season on Oct. 30 and Nov. 1 against UAA ... the last time Minnesota swept UAA was on Feb. 2-3, 2007 at the Sullivan Arena ... the Gophers lead the overall series, 48-15-7, and at Mariucci, 26-7-3 ... UM extended its current streak against UAA to three ... in Friday night's game, the Seawolves allowed their first shorthanded goals of the season ... the last time UAA allowed two SHG's was on Jan. 23, 2009 (vs. Michigan Tech) ... UAA kept UM scoreless on the power-play (0-of-5) ... UM outshot UAA, 34-23 ... the Seawolves posted a season-high 11 shots in the third period ... the two teams combined for 78 minutes in the box, including a season-high 40 minutes by UAA and an opponent season-high 38 by UM ... on Saturday, the Seawolves posted a season-high 16 shots on net in the third period for a season-high 32 shots in a game ... following four conference games, the Seawolves are currently tied for ninth in the WCHA with Michigan Tech with two points apiece ...UAA has 14 Seawolves with at least one point this season.

PLAYER NOTES: Scoring UAA's lone goal last Friday was junior F Nick Haddad (2-2-4) - his second goal of the season and first career power-play tally ... senior D Trevor Hunt (0-1-1) registered his first point of the season with the assist, while sophomore D Curtis Leinweber (1-3-4) posted his third assist of the year ... last Saturday, UAA's lone tally came from freshman F Mickey Spencer (1-1-2) - his first career goal ... freshmen F Daniel Naslund (0-2-2) picked up the helper ...  in net both nights at Minnesota (Oct. 31, Nov. 1) was junior Bryce Christianson (1-3-0, 4.00 gaa, .860 sv%), starting his first Friday game of the season ... with the losses Christianson dropped his career record to 9-15-4 ... Christianson posted a season-high 29 saves in the loss last Friday, facing a season-high 34 shots ... suiting up for his first games of the season at Minnesota was senior D Nils Backstrom, after missing the first six games of the 2009-10 season due to a pre-season wrist injury ... leading UAA in points so far this season are senior F Kevin Clark and junior F Tommy Grant with six apiece ... Clark leads the Seawolves with four goals, while Grant leads in assists with three ... Clark holds career ranks of T-No. 39 in points (77), No. 41 in assists (45) and tied for No. 34 in goals (32).

SEAWOLF PROMOTIONS

SKATE WITH THE SEAWOLVES:  Following the Saturday, Nov. 7 game vs. Denver, kids & fans will be able to skate with the Seawolves.  First 250 kids will receive a free Seawolves beanie courtesy of the SAA Blueliners. Great opportunity to get autographs and photos with your favorite players.  Make sure you have tickets and bring your skates.

GREEN & GOLD FRIDAYS - HOCKEY JERSEY SATURDAYS:  Kids 12 and under can get complimentary tickets by wearing green and gold (face painting counts) or their favorite hockey jersey to regular season WCHA games.  For each paid adult ticket (season tickets are valid as an adult paid ticket), up to 2 kids can receive a complimentary general admission tickets by participating in either one or both of the promotions.  Tickets are available only at Sullivan Arena Box Office one hour prior to game time and subject to availability.
