The University of Alaska Anchorage will open 2018 with a two-game home series against No. 7 Minnesota State Jan. 5-6. Head coach Matt Thomas will be giving a Chalk Talk before Friday’s game at 6:10 in the Northeast Lounge of Sullivan Arena. The talk is free and open to the public.

Minnesota State leads the all-time series 47-26-10 that dates back to 1982. The Mavericks lead 21-16-6 in games played in Anchorage. The two teams split the series last season with UAA winning game one 4-3 and MSU taking game two 5-0.

Brown Scores
Senior Jarrett Brown scored his second goal of the season at Bemidji State on Dec. 15. He ranks third on the team in career goals (14) and assists (27), and fourth in points (41) and games played (103).

Senior Tad Kozun tallied an assist on Jarrett Brown’s goal at Bemidji State. He currently ranks second on the team with seven assists. Kozun leads the team in career goals (27), points (64) and games played (118).

The senior class has been the most productive offensively so far this season. The seniors lead the team with 14 goals and 29 points. Their 15 assists ranks second behind the sophomores who have 16.

Scoring Increase
UAA has scored more goals later in the game. The Seawolves have scored seven goals in the first period and 12 goals in both the second and third periods.

Bemidji State won both games (5-1, 4-0) over Alaska Anchorage Dec. 15-16.
