ANCHORAGE – Casey Johnson scored 1:21 into overtime to give No. 7 North Dakota a 3-2 win over Alaska Anchorage in front of 2,506 fans at Sullivan Arena Saturday.

UAA was on the penalty kill just 20 seconds into the game after Austin Azurdia received a game misconduct for checking from behind.

UAA killed off the major penalty and a second in the first period.

UND got on the board at 12:18 of the second thanks to an extra attacker. Matt Kierstad scored his first goal of the season with assists to Rhett Gardner and Casey Johnson.

Collin Adams extended the UND lead to 2-0 with a power-play goal 38 seconds later beating UAA net minder Olivia Mantha high on the stick side.

Jeremiah Luedtke closed the second period with his first goal of the season with an assist to Joe Sofo at 17:44.

Nicolas Erb-Ekholm capitalized on a turnover in the UND zone with a wrist shot high over the glove of Cam Johnson to tie the game at two with 11:23 left in the third.

Johnson scored the game winner to give UND the overtime win.

UND finished with a 45-16 edge in shots.

Olivia Mantha turned in another stellar performance in net for the Seawolves stopping 42 of 45 shots, including a crazy diving glove save in the first.

Cam Johnson finished with 14 saves for UND.

Alaska Anchorage (0-1-1) will play at Colorado College Oct. 13-14.
