ANCHORAGE – Alaska Anchorage head coach Matt Thomas and Athletic Director Keith Hackett announced the 2017-18 Seawolf hockey schedule on Thursday. The slate will include 14 Western Collegiate Hockey Association series and will feature a six-game Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup.

The 2017-18 season will be highlighted by the 25th annual Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup, which will move to a six-game series with four contests doubling as WCHA games. The Cup will start Oct. 20-21 when the Seawolves and Nanooks compete in a non-conference, home-and-away series. The in-state rivals will meet in Anchorage on Friday, before a quick turnaround to Fairbanks on Saturday.

For WCHA points and bragging rights, the Seawolves will take on the Nanooks at the Sullivan Arena on Dec. 8-9, before the regular-season series finale on Feb. 23-24 in Fairbanks.

The 39th season of Seawolf Hockey will open with powerhouse North Dakota, Oct. 6-7 at the Sullivan Arena with a pair of non-conference games. The Seawolves will take on the Fighting Hawks, who made it to the NCAA West Regional Semifinals before falling to Boston University in double overtime in March.

UAA will continue non-conference play when they take on former-WCHA member Colorado College, Oct. 13-14 at the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Seawolves' 25th season in the WCHA will start with a pair of road games at Lake Superior State, Nov. 3-4. UAA will also travel to Alabama Huntsville (Nov. 10-11), Ferris State (Dec. 1-2), Bemidji State (Dec. 15-16), Bowling Green (Jan. 19-20), Minnesota State (Feb. 2-3).

Meanwhile, the Seawolves will entertain six conference series at the Sullivan Arena including the home, WCHA opener vs. Michigan Tech on Nov. 17-18. UAA will also host MSU (Jan. 5-6), UAH (Jan. 12-13), Northern Michigan (Jan. 26-27), LSSU (Feb. 9-10) and BGSU (Feb. 15-16).

Dates and locations for the exhibition game and Green & Gold scrimmage will be announced soon.
