WEST YELLOWSTONE, MONT. – Marcus Deuling led the University of Alaska Anchorage ski team with a 17th place finish in the classic races at the Utah Invitational Thursday.

Deuling covered the 10-kilometer classic race in 28:07.

Teammate Toomas Kollo finished two seconds behind Deuling in 18th.

Zackarias Toresson completed the scoring on the men’s side placing 33rd (30:29).

Sadie Fox led the women’s squad with a 20th place (16:33) finish in the five-kilometer classic race.

Jenna DiFolco was 23rd (16:44), and Casey Wright was 26th (16:58).

“Today the conditions made for tricky waxing,” said head Nordic coach Andrew Kastning. “Unfortunately it left our skis a little slower than others.”

The Seawolves are sixth in the team standings with 259 points.

UAA will compete in the freestyle races at the Utah Invitational Friday.
