MINTURN, COLO. – The University of Alaska Anchorage ski team sits in sixth place after the second day of the Denver Invitational Saturday.
Alix Wells posted the highest finish of the day for the Seawolves with a 13th place finish in the slalom (1:31.21).
Teammate Georgia Burgess was one spot behind her in 1:31.35.
Charley Field completed the scoring in the women’s slalom placing 21st (1:37.17).
Jenna DiFolco was the top finisher for the Seawolves in the Nordic races.
DiFolco covered the five-kilometer freestyle race in 21:15.9 for 20th place.
Toomas Kollow posted the top finish on the men’s side covering the 10-kilometer course in 35:40.8 for 24th.
“The blizzard conditions and soft snow was tough for us, but the kids fought hard,” said head Nordic coach Andrew Kastning. “We are looking forward to clear cold conditions tomorrow and hoping they ski with fire again.”
The Denver Invitational concludes with the classic races Sunday.
