The University of Alaska Anchorage Nordic ski team will compete at the University of New Mexico Invite Feb. 3-4. The Nordic races will be held in Crested Butte, Colorado while the Alpine events will take place in Red River, New Mexico.
Sophomore Hailey Swirbul earned a pair of medals competing for Team USA at the World Junior Championships in Goms, Switzerland. The El Jebel, Colorado, native earned a silver medal in the five-kilometer classic and earned a bronze in the skiathlon. She is the only woman to earn more than one medal at this years championships.

UAA skiers Natalie Hynes and Hannah Rudd joined Swirbul at World Juniors. Natalie Hynes, who represented Canada, finished 24th in the skiathlon and 36th in the classic race. Rudd palced 35th in the classic sprint and 59th in the classic race.
The University of Alaska Anchorage ranks sixth in the RMISA Team Standings with 752 points. Charley Field currently sits sixth in the NCAA gian slalom rankings and Hailey Swirbul is eighth in women’s Nordic. Dominic Unterberger is 11th in slalom and 13th in giant slalom. Georgia Burgess is 13th in slalom and Toomas Kollo is 16th.
Both the Nordic and alpine ski teams will compete at the Denver Invitational Feb. 9-11.
