CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Danielle McCormick of the University of Alaska Anchorage advanced to the finals of the 800 to highlight day two action at the NCAA Div. II Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday.

McCormick, the 2018 indoor national champion in the 800, earned an automatic qualifying spot to the final after placing second in her heat with a time of 2:07.98. She will be seeded eighth in the final that will take place Saturday at 1:15 pm (Alaska time).  

Yemi Knight, who was in the same heat as McCormick, finished third in the heat with a personal-best time of 2:08.36. She placed 10th overall and failed to advance to the final.

McCormick and Knight teamed up with Vanessa Aniteye and Tamara Perez in the 4x400. The quartet finished fourth in their heat and 10th overall in a time 3:43.47. UAA missed qualifying for the final by less than one second.

Caroline Kurgat, who won the 10,000 meters on Thursday, will compete in the 5,000 meters Saturday at 2:35 pm (Alaska Time).
