UAA's track & field team will move into its new training facility at The Dome in January.

Alaska Anchorage’s track & field team is one step closer to utilizing the new state-of-the-art track facility at The Dome in south Anchorage, as the finishing touches on the 400-meter, six-lane track are nearing completion.

The Seawolves will begin official practice for the upcoming 2008 outdoor track season in mid-January at The Dome - the largest air-supported structure of its kind in the United States. The massive facility (601 feet long, 290 feet wide by 87.5 feet tall) features a 120-yard synthetic turf field as well as the country's first 400-meter, six-lane indoor track.

The multi-use facility can also be used for soccer, baseball, softball, football, rugby and lacrosse.
