INDIANAPOLIS – The Alaska Anchorage women’s basketball team has officially earned its fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, earning the No. 5 seed for the NCAA Division II West Regional Championships as the NCAA unveiled the 64-team national field and regional host sites Sunday.

The Seawolves (25-4) will face fellow Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular-season co-champion Northwest Nazarene (22-4) in Friday’s first round in Azusa, Calif. UAA and NNU split during the regular season, with each team winning at home. The winner of the UAA/NNU game will face the winner of No. 8 seed Humboldt State (18-12) and No. 1 seed Azusa Pacific (27-4) in Saturday’s semifinals.

The other side of the bracket has No. 2 Hawaii Pacific (26-3) vs. No. 7 Montana State Billings (22-11) and No. 3 UC San Diego (27-4) against No. 6 Seattle Pacific (23-7).

Monday’s title game will determine the West Region champion, who will advance to the NCAA Div. II Elite Eight in Sioux Falls, S.D., Mar. 19-23.

Game times will be announced later.

This marks UAA’s 17th NCAA Tournament appearance overall and its 11th in the last 12 seasons. The Seawolves own West Region titles from 2008, 2009, 2012 and 2016, advancing all the way to the national title game in 2016.
