ANCHORAGE – Senior guard D.J. Ursery scored 16 points and senior forward Jacob Lampkin grabbed 16 rebounds Saturday to lead the Alaska Anchorage men’s basketball team to a 90-52 exhibition victory over the Seawolf Alumni at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Seawolves – who feature 12 newcomers on this year’s roster – also got 14 points and five assists from senior point guard Maleke Haynes, plus 10 points and three blocks from forward Josiah Wood in their 2017-18 debut.
The Alumni were led by 15 points and five rebounds from forward Christian Leckband (2012-16) and 11 points on 3-of-5 three-point shooting from forward Shane Bannarbie (2001-03). Center Connor Devine – who set UAA’s single-season blocks record in 2016-17 – finished with seven points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
The current Seawolves shot 48 percent and outrebounded the alums 53-32, getting six rebounds from junior forward Brian Pearson as well.
UAA travels to California for a pair of games next week, facing Div. I UC Irvine in an exhibition on Nov. 3 and Antelope Valley in the regular-season opener on Nov. 4. Both contests start at 6 p.m. ADT.
