ANCHORAGE – Alaska Anchorage volleyball head coach Chris Green announced his team’s 2019 schedule on Monday, including another tough field for the annual UAA Invitational tournament in September.

Coming off a 21-7 record last season, the Seawolves open the coming year with an exhibition match against the Seawolf Alumni on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. Admission that evening at the Alaska Airlines Center will be free.

UAA – which has led NCAA Div. II in attendance the last four years – then starts its 14-match regular-season home slate with the 23rd edition of the UAA Invitational, Sept. 5-7 at the Alaska Airlines Center. Visiting for the 2019 tournament will be Concord and Regis, along with fellow NCAA West Region programs Biola and UC San Diego. The Seawolves open the invitational Thursday night against Regis.

UAA’s non-conference slate concludes with four more regional foes at the D-II West Region Showcase in San Bernardino, Calif., Sept. 12-14. The Seawolves will face Cal State San Marcos, defending regional runner-up Cal State San Bernardino, Biola and Point Loma.

The 20-match Great Northwest Athletic Conference schedule gets under way with road contests at Seattle Pacific on Sept. 19 and Saint Martin’s on Sept. 21, before the Seawolves make their GNAC home debut Sept. 28 against Montana State Billings.

Other prominent home dates include Oct. 5 against Central Washington, Oct. 19 against defending GNAC champ and 2018 NCAA runner-up Western Washington, Oct. 22 against Alaska Fairbanks, and Nov. 23 against Seattle Pacific on ‘senior night.’

UAA is aiming for its eighth NCAA Tournament bid in 11 years, with the West Regional Championships set for Dec. 5-7 at a site to be determined. The NCAA Div. II Elite Eight national quarterfinals, semifinals and final will be held Dec. 12-14 in Denver.
