PORTLAND, Ore. – Alaska Anchorage point guard Sasha King was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference’s Red Lion Player of the Week for women’s basketball on Monday after helping the Seawolves to a pair of wins last weekend.

The senior from Norman, Okla. (NHS/Hutchinson [Kan.] CC) led UAA in scoring both nights, totaling 35 points in 85-76 and 70-67 victories over Regis (Colo.). King, who made six of 16 three-pointers, also had five steals and committed just three turnovers in 70 minutes of action.

It is the first career player-of-the-week honor for the King, who was a unanimous Preseason All-GNAC pick last month.

The 22nd-ranked Seawolves (2-1) are back in action Tuesday night (8 p.m. AST) when they face Div. I North Dakota State in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout at Sullivan Arena.
