FAIRBANKS - In the final day of the annual Alaska Nordic Cup, the Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks defeated the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, 24-18 in the freestyle race on Saturday. Overall the Nanooks claimed the Cup with a three-day point total of 78-48.

The UAF men and women each posted 12 points over their Seawolf counterparts', while UAA furnished nine points apiece.

Collecting her first collegiate win was rookie Marine Dusser in the women's 10K pursuit freestyle race. Dusser, picking up one of UAA's two individual wins, posted a time of 33 minutes, 49.6 seconds. Also scoring for UAA was Patricia Sprecher (36:10.3) in fifth and Karina Smith (37:54.0) in 10th.

In the men's 10K freestyle, Viktor Braennmark registered a winning time of 28:05.5. Lukas Ebner (28:46.0) took fifth, while Lasse Molgaard-Nielsen (28:51.8) was seventh.

The 2012-13 ski slate will commence in early January with the Colorado Invitational.
