LA JOLLA, Calif. - The nationally 8th-ranked Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team will be attempting to advance to its third NCAA II Elite Eight as it meets host UC San Diego Monday night in the championship game of the NCAA West Regional Championships here at RIMAC Arena. The nationally 4th-ranked Tritons (30-2) defeated Western Washington, 81-66, in Saturday's late semifinal game. UCSD, which was ranked No. 1 in the nation for much of the season, is the regional's No. 1 seed. Head coach Tim Moser's 2nd-seeded Seawolves improved to 29-4 on the season with their 77-58 win over 13th-ranked and 3rd-seeded Grand Canyon in the regional semifinals on Saturday night. UAA has now won 10 in a row. Moser led his team to the Elite Eight in both 2008 and 2009, advancing to the Final Four both times. Monday's title tilt is slated for a 6 p.m. ADT tipoff.
