Berther collects podium finish for juniors

WINTER PARK, Colo. – Alaska Anchorage freshman Vanessa Berther skied to 12th-place overall and third for juniors in the Super-G at the 2012 Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships on Friday at the Winter Park Resort.

Berther, a 2012 All-American from Bellevue, Wash., was the third-fastest junior in the event, completing the race in a time of one minute, 13.64 seconds. Winning the race was Julia Mancuso with a time of 1:10.38.

Berther follows junior Andreas Adde’s performance in the men’s slalom, where he finished sixth overall.

The Seawolves continue action at the championships with the women’s giant slalom on Saturday and the men’s giant slalom on Sunday. Results can be followed at live-timing.com.
