ST. PETER, Minn. – The Alaska Anchorage ski team led the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association with 17 student-athletes honored on the 2012 Division I All-Academic Ski team, selected by the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association on Thursday.

Combined, 82 athletes where honored from the six NCAA-affiliated schools within the RMISA. In addition to the 17 from the Seawolves, Montana State also had 17, while Denver had 14, Utah 13, New Mexico 11 and Colorado nine.

Leading the Seawolf pack with their fourth-career academic honors were seniors Jaime Bronga (civil engineering), Sandra MacDonald (biological sciences), Alex Parker (psychology) and Laura Rombach (management and global supply chain management).

Collecting their third accolades were senior Steffi Hiemer (biological sciences) and juniors Cameron Brewington (business) and Ida Bjerka (environment & society), while sophomore Lukas Ebner (marketing and finance) and Lasse Molgaard-Nielsen (management) each earned their second.

Receiving the honor for the first time were freshmen Davis Dunlap (undeclared), Lutz Klausmann (undeclared), Brandon Brewster (business), Sean Alexander (management), Nevio Zeni (mathematics), Anna Berecz (psychology), Taylor Guetschow (biological sciences) and Anais Urbain (journalism & international studies).

The 17 Seawolves recognized ties the UAA record from the 2010 season.

To qualify for the team, a student-athlete must participate at the regional meet and finish the fall term with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
