ANCHORAGE- Seawolf women's basketball coach
Nathan Altenhofen resigned Thursday evening while under investigation by UAA
officials for allegations of professional misconduct. Altenhofen was named the
ninth women's basketball head coach this past May. Prior to coming to UAA,
Altenhofen served as an assistant coach at Indiana University.
"This is unfortunate timing," said athletic director Steve Cobb,
"but under the circumstances, I accepted Altenhofen's resignation without
hesitation." Cobb expects to name a new head coach very soon.
UAA's women's basketball team has been in the top 10 programs in
the NCAA Div. II for the past five years. The defending NCAA Div. II West
Region-champions will play 17 homes games this season, starting with
non-conference contests against Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 9 and Regis
(Colo.) on Nov. 16-17.
