2012 SEASON RECAP: The Seawolves concluded the 2012 slate after qualifying a full team - 12 participants - to the NCAA Skiing Championships for the first time since 2009 ... the Seawolves posted the second-best team standing, finishing fifth with 519 points ... throughout the four days, UAA received six All-America honors, including two by junior Andreas Adde ... during the regular season, UAA posted two third-place finishes, while claiming the Alaska Nordic Cup for the first time since 2006 ... individually, senior Jaime Bronga  led UAA with  five podium finishes, earning the Anchorage native the RMISA women's Nordic MVP.

TEAM AWARDS: Four Seawolves were honored with team awards at the end-of-the-season banquet on April 13 ... earning the team's MVP honor was senior Jaime Bronga, while classmate Alex Parker took home Most Inspirational ... the Most Improved honor went to sophomore Christopher Kollenborg for Alpine and sophomore Lasse Molgaard-Nielsen for Nordic.


2012 NCAA SKIING CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Seawolves made their 32nd straight NCAA appearance in 2012, finishing fifth for the fourth time in program history ... UAA combined for 519 points with a complete team of 12 competing ... the Seawolves were in 7th place following Day 3, before the men's Alpine team used a team-high 93 points in the slalom to catapult UAA into 5th ... the Seawolves received two All-America finishes by junior Andreas Adde, who finished 6th in the giant slalom and 9th in the slalom ... also collecting an All-America honor on the men's team was freshman Sean Alexander with a 8th-place finish in the slalom ... on the women's side senior Jaime Bronga posted an team-high 5th-place finish in the freestyle race, while senior Alex Parker and freshman Vanessa Berther finished 8th in the slalom and giant slalom, respectively.


AT THE NCAAS: UAA has produced nine individual NCAA champions, while claiming 29 top-10 team finishes since participating at its first National Championship meet in 1981 ... from 1985-2006, UAA posted 22 consecutive top-10 finishes ... the nine overall individual titles rank the Seawolves ninth all-time in the NCAA record books ... of the nine titles, six are Nordic and three are Alpine ... junior Andreas Adde won the most recent NCAA individual title, winning the slalom in 2010, while Mandy Kaempf earned UAA's last individual title for a woman by sweeping the 5K classical and 15K freestyle races in 2005 ... UAA's highest team finish at NCAAs is fourth - accomplished in 2009 ... prior to 2009, UAA's highest finish was fifth - now accomplished four times (93, 97, 98, 12) ... the 1997 squad produced a program-best three individual champions, tying for the third-most titles in a year all-time ... the Seawolves have sent athletes to Nationals every year since 1981.


SEAWOLF BITES:
For the first time since the 2009 season, the Seawolves hosted races in Alaska, Feb. 4-11 ... the last time UAA hosted, it posted a program-best 1st-place team finish at the Seawolf Invite and third place at the Alaska Anchorage Invite ... after claiming the Alaska Nordic Cup for the first time since 2006, UAA posted third-place team finishes at the Colorado Invite and Denver Invite, respectively ... in between 2009 and this season, UAA had only one other 3rd-place team finish, recorded at the New Mexico Invite in 2011 ... the Seawolves also finished fourth at the UAA Invite, Feb. 4-10.


SKIER NOTES: Individually, the trio of Jaime Bronga, Laura Rombach and Steffi Hiemer produced a stellar senior campaign on the cross country courses ... Bronga, from Anchorage (East HS), posted two individual RMISA wins and two runner-up performances ... Bronga was crowned the RMISA women's Nordic MVP with 387 points, before earning her fourth career All-America honor ... the last Seawolf to claim a RMISA MVP award was senior Alex Parker (Alpine) at the conclusion of her freshman campaign in 2009 ... Rombach posted three top-five showings, while Hiemer registered two top-five finishes, helping the Seawolves to rallies in the team standings multiple times ... on the men's side, sophomore Lukas Ebner led the UAA Nordic team with 315 points in the RMISA MVP points, while junior Andreas Adde paced the men's Alpine team with 301 points ... Parker finished 9th in the standings with 332 points to lead the UAA women's Alpine squad.


RMISA SKIER OF THE WEEK: Senior Jaime Bronga earned UAA's lone weekly accolade of the season for her performace on Jan. 13-14 ... Bronga collected her second career victory with a time of 31:53 in the 10K classical, helping catapult the Seawolves to third in the overall team standings at the University of Colorado/Spencer Nelson Memorial Invitational ... Bronga finished runner-up in the freestyle event the day before, for her best weekend since joining the Green & Gold.
