ANCHORAGE – Alaska Anchorage head hockey coach Dave Shyiak announced Monday that junior Chris Crowell will lead the Seawolves in the 2012-13 slate as captain, while sophomore Matt Bailey will dress as assistant captain.

“These two individuals truly represent what we want in a player and a student,” said Shyiak, who concluded his seventh year at UAA, “They lead the right way and have undoubtedly earned the respect in the locker room.”

Crowell, a local of Williams Lake, B.C., who was an assistant captain in 2011-12, becomes the first Seawolf since Jared Tuton in 2009-10 to hold the captaincy alone. Since then, UAA had four student-athletes share the responsibilities each year.

UAA begins the season Oct. 6 with an exhibition game against the University of Regina, before hosting the annual Kendall Hockey Classic on Oct. 12-13 against Air Force and Canisius.
