ANCHORAGE – Junior outside hitters Chrisalyn Johnson and Leah Swiss both delivered double-doubles Friday night to lead the reigning NCAA Div. II national runner-up Alaska Anchorage volleyball team to a 25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-13 exhibition victory over the Seawolf Alumni at the Alaska Airlines Center.

Johnson finished with a match-high 14 kills and added 11 digs, while Swiss – the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year – collected 10 kills and 16 digs in just three sets of action.

The alumni – who featured four former GNAC Players of the Year on its roster – were led by eight kills apiece from Brooke Pottle and Erin Braun, while former All-American Morgan Hooe had six kills on nine attacks, 13 digs and 12 assists.

Ranked No. 4 in the preseason AVCA top 25 poll, the current Seawolves also got 11 kills apiece from sophomore right-side hitter Diana Fa’amausili and senior Anais Vargas. The reigning GNAC and West Region Freshman of the Year, Fa’amausili also racked up seven of UAA’s nine total blocks, including a pair of solos.

Taking over for Hooe at the setter position, sophomore Madison Fisher notched 25 assists and freshman Casey Davenport had 17 assists.

The Seawolves get the regular season under way next week with four matches Sept. 1-2 at the Seaside Invitational in San Diego. UAA opens against UC San Diego on Friday at 7:30 a.m. ADT. Check the volleyball schedule page for live video and stats links.
