NEW ORLEANS,
La. - The Alaska Anchorage men's and women's track & field teams continued
to be ranked in the top 15 nationally, according to the national team computer rankings
conducted by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
(USTFCCCA) on Tuesday. The men's team sits at No. 14, while the women are No.
15.
The men's team,
which has been polled in the top 20 since the start of the 2010 season, fell
four positions from Week 4's No. 10 ranking. The Seawolves continue to be the
lone Great Northwest Athletic Conference team in the top 25 and are fifth in
the West Region, with Grand Canyon leading the region. Western Washington sits
one spot about UAA in the region at No. 4.
The women's
team, which fell four positions in Week 5, continues to lead the GNAC with its
nearest league foe, Seattle Pacific, dropping one position to No. 22. The
Seawolves are second in the West Region for back-to-back weeks, trailing Grand
Canyon.
Leading Div.
II on the women's side is Grand Valley State, which leap frogged Adams State,
while Adams State bypassed Saint Augustine's in the men's poll.
Following a
bye week, the Seawolves will compete at the Occidental Invitational on May 5 in
Eagle Rock, Calif.
