BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Eight Alaska Anchorage gymnasts were honored for their classroom performance this week as the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association announced its 2018 WCGA Scholastic All-America awards.

The Seawolves were led academically by senior Madeleine Arbuckle, who finished her four years with an overall grade-point average of 3.94. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native graduated with honors this spring with a major in environment & society and a minor in business administration.

Sophomores Louisa Marie Knapp (3.93, physical education) and Sofie Riley (3.91, elementary education) also cracked the 3.9 barrier, making the Scholastic All-America team alongside teammates Mackenzie Miller (3.80, accounting), Morgan Ross (3.67, environment & society/Spanish), Isabella Scalapino (3.66, health science), Kennedy Green (3.61, accounting) and Kaylin Mancari (3.50, natural sciences).

UAA finished 35th of 76 programs nationally with its 3.4747 overall team GPA, continuing a decade-long run of top-half finishes, and leading the six-team Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for the third year in row.
