ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – University of Alaska Anchorage head ski coach Sparky Anderson has announced that Soleil Patterson will join the team for the 2018-19 season.

Patterson, a native of Rossland, B.C. who races out of Red Mountain, was the U18 Canadian Overall Champion in 2017. She placed third at the Canadian Nationals Downhill at Lake Louis in 2016 and was fourth at the NorAm Lake Louise Downhill the same year. She placed in the top-15 in the NorAm Copper Downhill in 2017. She plans to major in health sciences.

“Soleil is a great pick up for our women's team,” said Anderson. “She's a tough kid with great work ethic, and I think she'll make the transition from speed to tech relatively quickly. Soleil comes from Red Mountain, BC which is one of the last old school ski racing holdouts in North America. Kids from Red are full of grit and Soleil is no exception. We're excited to have her and look forward to seeing what she can bring to our group.”

The UAA alpine ski team will open the season at the CU Invite Jan 9th.
