PORTLAND, Ore. – Paced by senior Alysha Devine, four Alaska Anchorage players are among the 55 student-athletes on the 2016-17 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team, announced Tuesday by the league office.

One of eight three-time honorees among this year’s group, Devine carries a 3.80 overall grade-point average as a human services major. The former Wasilla High School star is among a dozen GNAC women’s players to achieve the 3.80 threshold and one of only five seniors.

Joining Devine on the squad is a pair of local Dimond High grads, with junior Sierra Afoa earning a second straight honor and sophomore Tara Thompson picking up her first. Afoa carries a 3.72 GPA in social work, while Thompson has a 3.59 in engineering. Senior point guard Kiki Robertson also earned her first career academic honor, improving her overall GPA to 3.35 in nursing/health sciences.

To be eligible for the all-academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum grade point average of 3.2 and be in at least her second year of competition at a GNAC university.
