PORTLAND, Ore. – Already enjoying a banner season on the court, the University of Alaska Anchorage volleyball team landed more honors Wednesday as four Seawolves were named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team.

Sophomore outside hitter Chrisalyn Johnson – a mechanical engineering major from Anchorage’s Dimond High School – led the UAA contingent and posted the seventh-best overall grade-point average among the 45 honorees, with a 3.80.

Meanwhile, senior middle blocker Erin Braun was one of five players to earn the award for the third straight season. The San Bernardino, Calif. (Cajon HS) product owns a 3.28 overall GPA, also in mechanical engineering.

Earning the award for first time were Seawolf sophomores Leah Swiss and Taylor Noga, who both carry 3.66 overall GPAs. Swiss, another outside hitter from Dimond High, is majoring in global logistics & supplay chain management, while Noga, a defensive specialist who played locally at East Anchorage High School, is a civil engineering major.

To earn a spot on the GNAC Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.20 overall GPA and be in at least her second season of competition at a GNAC institution.

The nationally 11th-ranked Seawolves (23-2, 14-2 GNAC) return to action with road matches Friday night against Concordia and Saturday against Western Oregon. Both contests start at 6 p.m. ADT and can be seen live on portal.stretchinternet.com/uaa.
