Meet at the Alaska Airlines Center for a special event just for ‘Golden Ticket’ holders. Attendees will enjoy a VIP treatment, including a preview tasting of the Varsity Sports Grill menu and exclusive access to restricted areas of the Alaska Airlines Center. Golden Ticket holders also get a special swag bag full of goodies. Golden Ticket holders must present their tickets for admission.
Friday, Sept. 5
Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting / SpringHill Suites Invitational Volleyball Tournament
Open to the public / Admission charged for 7 pm volleyball match only
Be among the first to enter the doors of the Alaska Airlines Center on Sept. 5. Join UAA as the ribbon is cut and the new center is dedicated and opened for our students and community. Come see the new 5,000-plus seat facility, enjoy light refreshments and learn about the exciting things happening at UAA. Be sure to stick around for the SpringHill Suites Invitational volleyball tournament at 7 p.m. to cheer on the Seawolves as they take on LIU Post.

Faculty Research & Creative Activity Showcase

Please join us for a rotating showcase of UAA faculty research and creative activity that is relevant to Alaska - now and for the future. Posters, performances and exciting demonstrations of outstanding research and creative projects will be presented Friday through Monday on the Raven's Nest (balcony) level of the arena.
Co-sponsored by the UAA Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies and the UAA Faculty Senate.

UAA Spirit Run
Cost: $5 for general public; Free for UAA students
Come show your UAA pride at the UAA Spirit Run sponsored by UAA Student Activities with support from Subway. The 'Fun Run' 5-K will wind through campus, starting and ending at the Alaska Airlines Center. Runners are encouraged to dress in green and gold. Food, refreshments, and entertainment will be provided following the run. The first one hundred runners to sign up will receive a complimentary UAA Spirit Run memorabilia t-shirt.

McDonald’s Youth Sports Day
Get ready to amp up your game and refine your skills at the McDonald’s Youth Sports Day. UAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Volleyball and Gymnastics will be hosting clinics throughout the afternoon for youth ages 10-14 (5th through 8th grades). Student-athletes and UAA coaches will be leading the skills clinics that will each last between 1.5 hours and 2.5 hours. Only50 sports available. Start times are still TBD. Registration is limited. Dinner & Silent Auction with Guest Speaker Bob Beaudine
Cost: $100 per individual or $1,000 per table of 10 (includes book)
The UAA Department of Athletics will host a special dinner featuring renowned author and public speaker Bob Beaudine. Attendees will enjoy a reception and dinner, followed by a keynote address from Beaudine, who will discuss his ‘Power of WHO’ philosophy. The CEO of Eastman & Beaudine manages one of the nation’s leading executive search firms for the sports and entertainment industry, with clients including the NBA, Major League Baseball, NHL and NCAA member institutions. The evening will also feature a silent auction with sports memorabilia, including signed items from NFL stars Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick, a signed jersey from UAA’s own Curtis Glencross, as well as opportunities to travel with the Seawolves. Net proceeds will support the Athletic Excellence Fund at the UA Foundation.

Taste of Alaska Charity Event
Admission: $10, plus a can of food
Tickets on sale Aug. 20
Are you a die-hard foodie? Do you love the local Anchorage eats? Join the Alaska Airlines Center for an evening of delicious foods from around the area. Local vendors and restaurants share favorite dishes and desserts. Live chef demos from Head Chef Rob of Crush Bistro, Chef Reuben from the Crow’s Nest, and Chef Al from Kincaid Grill, as well as live music performed by Hot Club of Nunaka. Wines and local brews will be available for those of age. All ages welcome. Proceeds will benefit the UAA Emergency Food Fund. Please bring canned goods to be donated to the Food Bank of Alaska in honor of Nation Hunger Month.

This event is sponsored by UAA Department of Athletics and the Military & Veteran Student Services Office. There will be no speeches or ceremonies. In addition to an art exhibit and silent auction (benefiting pre-determined non-profits such as Healing Hearts & Fallen Heroes Memorial) , there will be music and the opportunity to reflect on the importance of service to our community and country.

Drive-In Movie & Food Truck Rodeo
Presented by the Alaska Airlines Center and Bear Tooth Theater
The Alaska Airlines Center is excited to bring back the nostalgia of the drive-in movie with the style of the 21st century. Starting at 5:00pm, a rodeo of local food trucks will be located in the parking lot of the arena for your dining pleasure. At sundown (approximately 9pm), we will project a movie (title TBA soon!) onto the face of the new Alaska Airlines Center! Sound will be broadcasted through FM radio, as well as speakers for those that are planning to join on foot. Food trucks and vendors will be serving throughout the movie.

Presented by the Alaska Airlines Center, the Howlapalooza Music and Arts Festival will feature two stages, DJ booth, arts and craft vendors, food carts, and over 10 hours of live music by local artists! Local music acts include: Ghost Hands, The Rebel Blues Band, Thera, Turquoise Boy, Anna Lynch Band, Yngvil Vatn Guttu, Hot Dish, Sophia Street, Emma Hill and more to be announced soon!
