Mayor's to end at Delaney Park Strip
The 26.2-mile marathon and 13.1-mile half marathon will remain certified through USA Track & Field, while the former 5.6-mile course will be changed to a more popular 4-mile distance. The marathon relay and youth cup event will be offered again this year as well.
The route for the marathon will begin once again at Bartlett High School, with the finish for all events slated to conclude at the Park Strip.
“I’m excited about the 40th year,” said Friess. “The Park Strip has been home to a lot of memorable, iconic events in this city’s history, so I think it’s fitting to have the finish there.”
“This is an exciting time in our city with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Mayor’s Marathon,” said Anchorage mayor Dan Sullivan. “As one of the country’s premier marathons, we are thrilled to have this year’s race finish in the heart of downtown. We’re looking forward to this new route as it reveals some of Anchorages finest trails and beautiful neighborhoods along the way.”
