PORTLAND, Ore. - Three Alaska Anchorage players were among the 40 student-athletes honored Thursday when the Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its 2012 GNAC All-Academic Volleyball Team.

Nikkie Viotto, a senior outside hitter from Eagle River High, produced the Seawolves' highest overall grade-point average with a 3.82 as a strategic communications major. It is the third all-league academic honor for Viotto, who ranks in UAA's career top 20 in digs, aces, sets played and matches played.

Siobhan Johansen, a junior libero/setter from Palmer (Colony HS), earned her second career honor with a 3.63 GPA in English. She currently leads UAA with 4.43 digs per set. Earning recognition for the first time was sophomore libero/defensive specialist Jordan Bush (Graham, Wash.) for her 3.58 GPA as a nutrition major. Bush paces the Seawolves with a service ace/error ratio of better than 2 to 1.

To be eligible for the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least her second year at her university.
