LAST YEAR vs. NORTH DAKOTA: The Seawolves were swept by North Dakota, 5-2, 4-1 at the Sullivan Arena on Dec. 3-4, 2011 ... the Seawolves fell behind early on Friday night, allowing UND to score three goals in the first before D Scott Warner tallied his first of the season ... the Sioux added two more tallies before senior D/F Curtis Leinweber cut the lead to 5-2 with his fourth goal in three games ... on Saturday, the Seawolves found themselves tied, 1-1, after 20 minutes of play thanks to F Sam Mellor, but couldn’t stop UND from added three more goals in the second frame for the WCHA sweep.

LAST TIME OUT: The Seawolves finished the 5th annual Brice Alaska Goal Rush at 1-1-0, picking up a loss against then-No.2 ranked North Dakota, 5-0 on Oct. 19, before defeating Merrimack 6-3 on Oct. 20 ... the Seawolves received a multi-goal night from sophomore F Scott Allen (2-1=3) and freshman F Blake Tatchell (2-0=2) ... UAA also got a multi-point night from junior F Matt Bailey (0-2=2) ... junior G Rob Gunderson posted the win between the pipes with 27 saves ... in-state rival Alaska Fairbanks went on to win the tournament with a 2-1 win over UND ... Allen was the lone Seawolf to be named to the all-tournament team.

SEAWOLF BITES: The last time UAA was shut out was on Jan. 20, 2012 against Wisconsin (4-0) ... the Seawolves were unable to score a goal against UND for the first time since Oct. 23, 2009 … UAA also faced the Merrimack Warriors at the Brice tournament, winning 6-3 … UAA now leads the all-time series against the Warriors, 5-2-0 and has a three-game streak against Merrimack … Shyiak is undefeated against Merrimack, also winning on Oct. 13, 2006 (6-2) … at the completion of four of the six non-conference games this season, UAA is 2-1-1 … Shyiak is 18-8-6 (.656) all-time in the first four games  … against Merrimack, the Seawolves furnished two short-handed goals –  the last UAA shorty was the previous weekend against Air Force … the Seawolves and Bentley are currently the only two teams in the nation with three shorthanded tallies … UAA is tied with its opponents so far this season with 11 goal apiece and has a higher shot percentage at .134 to .110 … the Seawolves are averaging 20.5 shots per game ... the Seawolves claimed their second straight Kendall Hockey Classic title on Oct. 12-13 … UAA picked up a season-opening 2-0 win against Canisius on Oct. 13, before tying Air Force, 3-3 on Oct. 13 … UAA is now, 22-14-10 overall in the Classic ... UAA now leads the all-time record against Canisius 3-0-1 and against Air Force 13-5-1 … the Seawolves haven’t lost to the Falcons since Feb. 10, 1989, going 7-0-2 since then … UAA is now 8-3-5 in under Shyiak in the Kendall Hockey Classic, with titles in 2006, 2011 and 2012 ... the Seawolves are now 6-0-2 in season-openers under Shyiak ... UAA hasn’t lost a season-opener since 2000 against Michigan State (5-4) ... since then, UAA has gone 9-0-3 in season-openers ... the shutout on Oct. 12 was only the second for UAA in a season-opener in 35 years of program history, along with a 4-0 win against Niagara in the 1999 Classic.

PLAYER NOTES: Individually, the Seawolves are led by junior center Matt Bailey (1-3=4) and his line mate sophomore Scott Allen (3-1=4) … Allen’s three goals are the most for a Seawolf this season after netting two against Merrimack on Oct. 20 … also posting two goals this season is senior F Alex Gellert (2-1=3) and rookie Blake Tatchell (2-1=3) …. Tatchell, from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, posted his first collegiate goal on Oct. 20 in the opening frame and then added a second in the third period … he’s currently tied for No. 23 in points per games (.75) for rookies … junior Chris Kamal is currently one of 12 goaltenders with a shutout this season – picking up the fourth of his career on Oct. 12 against Canisius … scoring UAA’s lone power-play goal of the season is junior D Quinn Spourle against the Warriors … making his collegiate debut on Saturday was freshman D Chris Williams … still looking for their first collegiate points are Williams, Bobby Murphy, Austin Sevalrud and Hayden Trupp ... playing in their 100th career games over the past weekend were Gellert and senior F Daniel Naslund.
