MPSF PREVIEW: Two-time defending champion UC Davis enters Saturday’s meet at the favorite with an average of 192.039, a regional qualifying score of 191.800 and a season-high of 194.150 … Air Force (190.527 avg/191.620 RQS/193.025 high) and Seattle Pacific (190.918 avg/191.615 RQS/192.575 high) come in with similar numbers, while UAA has a 188.848 average, 189.280 RQS and 192.625 season-high.

MICHIGAN STATE RECAP: The Seawolves posted their top two scores of the season and made it three straight meets above the 190 plateau in their regular-season finales against Michigan State, Mar. 9 & 11 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex … in the first meet, senior Kathleen Mantell delivered a career-high all-around as UAA suffered a 194.125-190.850 loss to the Big Ten Conference foe ... despite the loss, the Seawolves had their then-top performance of the season thanks to big nights on both uneven bars and balance beam ... UAA’s 47.950 total on bars was the then-13th-best score in program history, while the 47.875 on beam ranked 19th ... Mantell, who topped the 38-point mark for the first time in her 2-year Seawolf career, scored a 9.6 on beam, a 9.575 on bars and a 9.55 on floor to finish with 38.075 points ... meanwhile, freshman Morgan Cook posted a 37.750 all-around as the Arkansas native had her best beam result, scoring 9.6 ... senior Shakea Sanders had UAA’s highest score on vault, placing 3rd with a 9.625, and floor, placing 5th with a 9.65 ... fellow senior Kaelei Spoor was 3rd on beam with a then-UAA season-best 9.75, and freshman Sariaye Jensen equaled her career-high 9.75 bars score for the third time … on Sunday, Cook and Jensen delivered personal-best all-arounds to lift UAA to easily its best performance of the season in a 195.425-192.625 loss ... the Seawolves also got an impressive three-event showing from sophomore Emily Petersen as they posted the 6th-best overall score in program history and their best score of 2012 by nearly two full points ... in the home finale for UAA's four seniors, it was the Seawolves' youth that shone brightest, with Cook matching a team season-high 38.400 all-around and Jensen topping the 38-point barrier for the first time with 38.175 points ... that duo was among five Seawolves who combined for 13 career-high scores, including Cook's 9.8 on bars and 9.775 on floor, Jensen's 9.65 vault and 9.625 on floor, and freshman Paige Pirie's 9.625 on floor ... meanwhile, Petersen had the biggest performances of the day, matching her career-high and posting UAA's best bars routine this year with a 9.775 ... the Indianapolis native then followed with a 9.825 on balance beam to equal the 4th-best score in program history and UAA's best in two seasons ... among the Seawolf seniors, Mantell continued her recent strong efforts with career-bests on bars (9.65) and beam (9.775), while Sanders earned UAA's top vault of the day with a 9.75 ... Spoor recorded the Seawolves' 2nd-best score on floor with a 9.7, and Jackie Thomas contributed to UAA's season-high 48.000 bars total with a 9.4 ... Thomas, a bars specialist from Colorado Springs, posted her best two scores of the season against the Spartans.

UAA's 192.625 total in the second MSU meet was 6th-best in program history and its 2nd-highest home score ever, trailing just the 193.000 against Kentucky in the 2009 regular-season finale ... the Seawolves' Mar. 11 beam score of 48.225 ranked 5th on the all-time school list, while the 48.000 on bars tied for 11th … the Seawolves have produced three of the top 25 vault scores in program history the last five meets … both bars scores against MSU ranked in the top 14 on the all-time list, while the Mar. 11 beam total of 48.225 ranked No. 5 in school annals … UA’s 187.950 on Jan. 8 was the second-best opening-day score in program history behind a 191.275 in 2005.

MORE GYMNAST NOTES: Sophomore Melissa Doucette tied the 12th-best vault score in program history with her 9.825 on Feb. 12 against Air Force … with a 38.131 average through five meets (and a current shoulder injury that will keep her at minimum off bars), the New Hampshire native will to become the seventh Seawolf to top a 38-point all-around average … Doucette and freshman Morgan Cook are tied for the Seawolves' top all-around performance this year with 38.400 points ... Cook has vaulted into 6th place on the MPSF all-around list (47.435 RQS), followed closely by fellow freshman Sariaye Jense (37.340), making both rookies candidates for an 'at-large' all-around berth at the NCAA Div. I West Regionals in April … Doucette is 5th (9.720) and senior Shakea Sanders ranks 6th (9.695) in vault RQS among MPSF gymnasts ... sophomore Emily Petersen is a threat to win the conference title on both bars (9.695 RQS, 5th in league) and balance beam (9.554 average) ... Petersen's current 9.708 bars average is on pace to smash Dominique Ingram's UAA season record of 9.662 ... Petersen has scored no lower than 9.65 on bars all season, and her 9.825 beam routine against Michigan State tied the 4th-best score in program history ... senior Kathleen Mantell is coming off her best two weeks of the season, setting career-highs on vault (9.525), beam (9.775) and all-around (38.075), along with a season-best 9.65 bars routine on Mar. 11 ... freshman Paige Pirie has become a staple in the floor lineup recently, scoring 9.525 or better in the last three meets.

INJURY REPORT: Sophomore Melissa Doucette returned on Vault Mar. 11 after missing three straight meets due to a shoulder injury; she is probable to compete on at least one event this week … freshman Chelsey Baker suffered a season-ending knee injury in UAA’s Green & Gold intrasquad scrimmage on Dec. 11.
