ANCHORAGE – Former Alaska Anchorage All-American David Registe will take his track & field career to the international level when he competes at the 2011 XVI Pan America Games in Guadalajara, Mexico on Oct. 24.

Registe (Colony HS), who holds dual citizenship, will participate in the long jump for Dominica. Registe, the 2008 NCAA Div. II long jump champion, will travel with UAA assistant coach Rafael Echavarria, who coached him throughout his collegiate career.

This marks the second international meet that Registe has competed in; he also participated at the 2011 Central American & Caribbean Games.

The long jump gets under way at 1:25 p.m. ADT. Select coverage of the games will be available on ESPN.

The 2011 Pan Am Games started on Oct. 14 and will go through Oct. 30, with the track & field portion from Oct. 23-30. The games feature summer and winter sports and are the second-largest multi-sport event after the Summer Olympics. The competition is held every four years in the year before the Summer Olympic Games.
