LONG BEACH, Calif. – Alaska Anchorage guard Drew Robinson scored 12 points to lead a trio of Seawolves in double-figure scorers Saturday, but the hot shooting of host Long Beach State was too much in an 86-65 exhibition loss at Walter Pyramid.

The 49ers were led by 18 points from preseason all-conference guard Larry Anderson as the Division I squad shot 53 percent from the field, including 9-of-19 three-pointers.

Meanwhile, the Division II Seawolves got 11 points from sophomore center Malcolm Campbell, plus 10 points from junior forward Nick Pacitti. Robinson, a junior transfer from Salt Lake Community College, came off the bench to shoot 5 of 12, along with two assists and two steals.

The Seawolves did outrebound the Big West Conference preseason favorites, 36-34, while UAA’s bench outscored its counterparts 29-12.

While UAA counted the game as an exhibition, NCAA rules allowed for LBSU (1-0) to count the game on its regular-season record.

UAA (1-0) gets back to business Tuesday when it plays its first D-II foe the season, taking on Hawaii Pacific in Honolulu.
