PORTLAND, ORE. - Caroline Kurgat and Chrisalyn Johnson of Alaska Anchorage were each honored with Athlete of the Week honors from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Monday. 

Kurgat reset her own record in the 5,000 meters with a third-place time of 15:40.45 and then proceeded to break the UAA record in the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:19.48, ranking her third on the GNAC All-Time List. Both times automatically qualify Kurgat for the NCAA Championships in those events.

Johnson broke her own record with a mark 19 feet, 5.25 inches, ranking No. 6 on the GNAC All-Time and No. 14 in Division II this season.

UAA will compete in the GNAC Multi-Event Championships April 29-30 in Ellensburg, Wash.
