Hockey hosts Northern Michigan
Alaska Anchorage will host Northern Michigan for a pair of WCHA games this weekend (Jan. 11-12).
Northern Michigan leads the all-time series with Alaska Anchorage 24-12-1 but the Seawolves lead the series in Anchorage 11-6-0. The Wildcats swept the series earlier this season 3-0, 2-1.
Senior Jeremiah Luedtke played in his 100th career game for UAA last weekend against LSSU. The Lynwood, Wash., native scored his fourth goal of the season and the 12th of his career in last week’s loss to Lake Superior State.
Freshman Jared Nash scored his first career goal in just his third career game last Friday against Lake Superior State. He is the first freshman to score a goal this season for UAA.
Senior Jonah Renouf tallied back-to-back points last weekend against Lake Superior State. The Mississauga, Ont., native recorded an assist Friday night and scored his first goal of the season on the powerplay Saturday. Tomi Hiekkavirta also recorded back-to-back points thanks to an assist both nights.
Last weekend marked just the second series this season that the Seawolves scored on the powerplay each night. Alaska Anchorage scored in both games at North Dakota on Dec. 23-24.
Alaska Anchorage out-shot Lake Superior State both nights last weekend. UAA has out-shot its opponent three times this season.
The senior class leads the team in both goals (13) and points (21). The junior class leads the team with 13 assists.
Claeys in the WCHA
Sophomore Brody Claeys ranks third in the WCHA in save percentage (.932) and fifth in goals against average (1.96).

Lake Superior State swept Alaska Anchorage 5-2, 3-1 last weekend at Sullivan Arena.
Alaska Anchorage will play at Alabama Huntsville Jan. 18-19.
