FALLS CREEK, AUSTRALIA – University of Alaska Anchorage Nordic skier Casey Wright recently claimed a pair of podium finishes at the Australian Nordic Ski National Championships.

Wright, a native of Melbourne, Australia, was the Australian National Champion in the five-kilometer classic and finished third in the freestyle sprint.

Wright also placed fifth overall and the second Australian at the Kangaroo Hoppet, a 42-kilometer race similar to the American Birkebeiner.

Wright has represented Australia at numerous international competitions, including the 2018 Sochi Olympics.

The UAA ski team will open the 2018-19 season at the Alaska Nordic Cup in Fairbanks, Alaska Nov. 17-18.
