ANCHORAGE – Alaska Anchorage gymnastics head coach Tanya Ho has bolstered her team’s 2019 roster with the announcement Tuesday that Rachel Decious has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Seawolves.
From Mesa, Ariz., Decious has been a Level 10 competitor since 2016, qualifying in back-to-back years for the Region 1 Championships. Suiting up club team Gold Medal Gymnastics, she placed sixth in the all-around and fourth on floor exercise at the Arizona Optional State Championships on Mar. 16, and she won floor exercise at the Valley of the Sun Challenge two weeks earlier.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Rachel to the Seawolf family,” said Ho, who enters her second season at the helm in 2019. “She has beautiful lines and a natural artistry that will make her an immediate impact freshman on beam and floor. She trained at a high level with Gold Medal, and we hope that she eventually can become an all-arounder for us.”
Decious becomes the third member of Ho’s inaugural recruiting class, joining fall signees Alexandria Britz (Orting, Wash./Auburn Gymnastics Center) and Katelyn Fandrich (Easley, S.C./Sparkle City Gymnastics).
