Alaska Anchorage will play its final home series of the season when it hosts No. 14 Bowling Green Thursday and Friday (Feb. 15-16).
Bowling Green State leads the all-time series with Alaska Anchorage 11-3-2. The Falcons leads the series in Anchorage 4-3-2, but the Seawolves have won two of the last three meetings at Sullivan Arena.
Alaska Anchorage will honor the seven seniors, Tanner Johnson, Jarrett Brown, Alec Butcher, Austin Azurdia, Matt Anholt, Tad Kozun and Olivier Mantha, prior to faceoff on Friday. The senior class has been the most productive offensively leading all other classes in goals (24) and points (50).
UAA outshot LSSU 33-25 in Friday’s loss. The game was the second this season that the Seawolves have out-shot its opponent. Alaska Anchorage held Lake Superior State to 23 shots on Saturday, the fewest by an opponent this season.
Butcher Streak Continues
Senior Alec Butcher scored his seventh point in his last seven games in last Friday’s loss to Lake Superior State. The Anchorage, native ranks second on the team in goals (six) and tied for seventh in points (eight) despite playing in only 12 games.
Mantha For Hobey
UAA goalie Olivier Mantha is currently a candidate for the Hobey Baker Award. Mantha holds the record for career saves at UAA with 3,331.
Last Time Out
Lake Superior State swept both games (3-2, 2-1) in last weekends sweep in Anchorage.
Alaska Anchorage will close out the season with a two-game series at in-state rival Alaska Fairbanks.
