BIG SKY, MONT. – Dominic Unterberger led the Alaska Anchorage ski team with a 10th place finish in the men’s slalom at the Montana State Invitational Monday.

"It was a rough day," said head coach Sparky Anderson. "Martins went down with a knee injury and my two top girls who were in contention both fell in the second run. In one run we went from potentially beating Utah, last year’s National Champions, to landing in 7th and leaving the Nordic side a huge deficit. Not want we wanted to see. The kids were full gas trying to make it happen. That’s just ski racing sometimes. Disappointing day. We will bounce back this week at the Utah Invite."

Unterberger moved up from 20th place after run one to 10th thanks to a second run time of 50.24, the ninth fastest of the field, to finish with a combined time of 1:41.05.

Anthony Naciuk finished 17th (1:41.74), and Conor McDonald was 27th (1:45.35).

Georgia Burgess led the women’s team with a 17th place finish in 1:47.42.

Alix Wells placed 18th (1:48.36), and Charley Field was 19th (1:53.59).

Alaska Anchorage will compete at the Utah Invitational Jan. 11-12.
