PORTLAND, Ore. – Alaska Anchorage senior D.J. Ursery was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week for men’s basketball Tuesday after leading the Seawolves to a hard-fought road win over Concordia-Portland.
The 6-4, 190-pound guard from Los Angeles (Crespi HS) had career highs of 22 points and 12 rebounds in UAA’s 59-55 victory at LCEF Court on Dec. 19, recording his first double-double as a Seawolf. A one-year transfer from Div. I University of the Pacific, he shot 10 of 12 from the floor, along with three assists, two steals and a block. Ursery also served as the primary defender on Cavaliers guard Jarrett Gray, holding the GNAC’s second-leading scorer to two points on 0-of-8 shooting.
