ANCHORAGE – Coming off back-to-back 30-win seasons, the Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team will take on another challenging slate in 2017-18 as head coach Ryan McCarthy unveiled his squad's schedule on Monday.

The Seawolves – who have swept the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles the past three years – will play at least 14 games at the Alaska Airlines Center this winter, and possibly two or three more when they host the GNAC Tournament in March.

The season begins with a trip to North Carolina to face NAIA program Johnson & Wales on Nov. 2 and exhibition against national power Duke on Nov. 5, while the following week features a pair of key West Region neutral-court meetings when UAA faces 2017 NCAA first-round opponent Hawaii Pacific on Nov. 10 and Cal State LA on Nov. 11 in Ellensburg, Wash.

UAA makes its home debut Nov. 17 against Holy Names and Nov. 18 against Western State (Colo.), before hosting three Div. I teams in the annual GCI Great Alaska Shootout, Nov. 21 and Nov. 23. The Seawolves will face Maryland Eastern Shore in the first round Tuesday, and either Binghamton or Tulsa in the placing round on Thanksgiving Day.

GNAC play gets under way the following week with early-season home clashes against Central Washington on Nov. 30 and Northwest Nazarene on Dec. 2, before the Seawolves hit the road for six straight contests, including their final two non-conference games, Dec. 16 at Notre Dame de Namur and Dec. 19 at Sonoma State.

Big home dates in January and February include Jan. 25 against GNAC runner-up and NCAA qualifier Western Washington, Jan. 27 for a rematch against NCAA second-round opponent Simon Fraser, Jan. 30 against Alaska Fairbanks, Feb. 15 against Seattle Pacific and Feb. 17 for ‘senior night' against Saint Martin's.

After the regular-season finale at Central Washington on Feb. 24, the Seawolves will host the GNAC Tournament for the first time at the Alaska Airlines Center, Mar. 1-3. The top six teams in the regular-season standings qualify for the eighth annual event.

The NCAA Div. II West Regional Championships are set for Mar. 9-12 at a to-be-determined campus host site, while the 2018 NCAA Div. II Elite Eight will be held Mar. 19-23 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
