OH Sam Harthun (3.32 kps, .178 att%, 2.16 dps, 0.38 bps) and 5-6 Fr. S Katlyn Mataya (9.84 aps, 2.03 dps).

LAST TIME VS UAF: Fr. OH Sarah Johnson had 24 kills and 24 digs to anchor a huge UAA comeback as the Seawolves earned a 22-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-10 victory over UAF at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex on Sept. 29 ... a program-record crowd of 884 watched as UAA also got 59 assists and 12 digs from Sr. S Kimya Jafroudi to beat UAF for the 4th straight time ... after stumbling early, the Seawolves got 7 kills on .500 hitting from Johnson in the 3rd set to stay alive, and Fr. OH Julia Mackey got into the act in the 4th set with 5 of her 13 kills to tie the match … UAA took control early in the 5th, getting a kill from Fr. OH Katelynn Zanders (14 kills, 4 blocks) to go ahead 2-1 and never trailing … the Nanooks pulled within 8-5 midway through the frame before Jr. MB Jodi Huddleston started a 3-point surge with one of her 12 kills, and the Seawolves earned match point on a feed from Jafroudi to Mackey … Jr. MB Maureen Sabado collected 4 kills and a match-high 8 total blocks, while on the back row, Jr. L Siobhan Johansen added 16 digs and So. DS Jordan Bush had 10 … Johnson finished with career-highs in kills, digs and attack pct. (.370), committing just 4 attack errors … Jafroudi, meanwhile, came one assist shy of her career-high, helping UAA out-hit the Nanooks .258 to .176.

SMU, WOU RECAP: The Seawolves split their second straight home series with last week’s 3-1 win over Saint Martin’s on Oct. 18 and 3-0 loss to Western Oregon on Oct. 20 … on Thursday, Sr. S Kimya Jafroudi delivered another fine all-around performance to lead UAA over the Saints, 23-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-15 … the Seawolves also got 17 kills from Fr. OH Katelynn Zanders as they won for the 10th straight time against SMU … Fr. Sarah Johnson had 10 kills and 10 digs for UAA, spurring a 10-point run in the 2nd set that reversed the momentum … the Seawolves tied their season-high with 14 aces, including career-high-tying totals for Jafroudi (6) and Johnson (3) … Jafroudi also equaled her career-high with 4 kills, while delivering 47 assists and 13 digs; it was her third straight match with double-digit digs … Fr. OH Julia Mackey finished with 12 kills and Jr. MB Jodi Huddleston had 10 kills on .444 hitting … Fr. MB Breanne Sytnyk played in only two sets but gave the Seawolves a huge lift with 6 kills and 5 total blocks, while Jr. L Siobhan Johanson had a match-high 17 digs … on Saturday, the Seawolves could not contain hot-hitting WOU despite a fast start, losing 25-23, 25-19, 25-21 … UAA was led by Mackey’s 9 kills and Jafroudi managed 32 assists and 9 digs as WOU swept the season series for the second year in a row … Sr. OH/DS Nikkie Viotto started on the outside and finished with 7 kills and 8 digs, while Zanders also tallied 7 kills.

TEAM NOTES: UAA is 9-2 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex this season after having a 16-match home winning streak stopped Oct. 6 against No. 16 Western Washington … the Seawolves have won 34 of their last 38 home matches and are 37-6 at the WFSC since 2009 … UAA has not lost consecutive home matches under head coach Chris Green, who took over in 2008 … UAA is 11-0 when posting a higher hitting pct. and 8-1 when outblocking its opponents … the Seawolves rank No. 2 in the GNAC in four categories — digs per set (16.3), aces per set (1.61), kills per set (13.01) and opponent attack pct. (.162) — and are No. 3 in assists per set (12.11) and attack pct. (.214) … by going the distance against CWU, NNU and UAF, the Seawolves accomplished a program-first by winning three straight home matches by 3-2 scores … the 884 fans Sept. 29 against UAF and the 862 against WOU on Oct. 20 were the top two crowds in program history, while the 785 against WWU on Oct. 6 ranks 7th on the list of largest volleyball attendances at UAA … the Seawolves are 8-20 overall against ranked opponents under head coach Chris Green; prior to Green’s arrival in 2008, UAA had lost 32 straight matches to ranked foes.

’WOLF NOTES: Reigning GNAC Newcomer of the Year and 2nd-Team all-league Sr. S Kimya Jafroudi ranks 2nd in the league and 18th nationally with 10.91 assists per set … she also paces the GNAC with 0.51 aces per set, good for 34th in Div. II and No. 3 on UAA’s single-season list … currently 7th on UAA’s career assists list with 1,694, the Californian is narrowly behind former GNAC Player-of-the-Year Calli Scott (2008-09) for No. 1 on UAA’s career assists average record, trailing 10.62 to 10.52; with seven matches remaining, she would need to average 41.7 assists to reach 2,000 … in September, Jafroudi was the MVP of UAA’s own SpringHill Suites Invitational, pacing a Seawolf offense that hit .241 … Fr. OH Sarah Johnson has shown off her all-around skills early in her career, currently ranking 15th in the GNAC in kills per set (2.67) and 13th in digs per set (3.06) … Johnson was named the GNAC Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 10-16 after posting a .308 attack percentage and averages of 3.40 kills and 3.20 digs in wins over CWU and NNU … she leads the Seawolves with seven double-doubles, including a 24-kill, 24-dig performance in a 3-2 home win over UAF … with Johnson, Fr. OH Katelynn Zanders (6th, 3.34 kps) and Fr. OH Julia Mackey (9th, 3.06 kps), the Seawolves have three of the GNAC’s top 15 leaders in kills per set … midway through her rookie campaign, Zanders is 15th on UAA’s single-season list for kills average … Mackey has delivered double-digit kills in 14 of 19 matches thus far, while Zanders has done it 12 times … Jr. MB Jodi Huddleston leads the Seawolves and ranks 5th in the GNAC with a .316 attack pct. … the Western Nebraska transfer has connected at .300 or better in 10 of 19 matches, while hitting below .200 only twice … Fr. MB Breanne Sytnyk has a .392 attack percentage with 2.00 kills and 1.07 blocks per set over the last four matches … the Canadian now ranks 13th in the GNAC with 0.80 blocks per set … Jr. L Siobhan Johansen has averaged 4.95 digs per set of the last six matches, vaulting her to 6th in the GNAC and 9th on UAA’s single-season list with 4.41 dps … Sr. OH/DS Nikkie Viotto ranks in UAA’s career top 20 in five categories — total aces (8th, 109), aces per set (10th, .302), total digs (18th, 833), sets played (t-16th, 361) and matches played (t-18th, 98) … after playing mainly as a serving specialist last year, So. DS Jordan Bush has stepped up her role, playing in all 70 sets and ranking 5th on the team with 1.79 dps … Bush’s ace-to-error ratio of 18-10 is easily best on the team, and she premiered in the league’s top 20 this week with her 0.26 aces per set (16th).

SEAWOLVES PICKED 3RD IN POLL: The Seawolves were tabbed for third place in the 2012 GNAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, released Aug. 21 … UAA received 70 points in the balloting, narrowly trailing Western Washington and Western Oregon:
