PORTLAND, Ore. - Alaska Anchorage senior Kimya Jafroudi was named Monday as the Red Lion GNAC Defensive Player of the Week for volleyball after leading the Seawolves to a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference road victories.

On Thursday, the 5-7 setter had 10 digs and matched her season high with three block assists as UAA downed Seattle Pacific in five sets at Royal Brougham Pavilion. Offensively, she dished 41 assists and equaled her career high with four kills against the Falcons.

On Saturday, Jafroudi delivered 12 digs, along with 41 assists and one block assist, in a four-set win at Montana State Billings to help UAA improve to 12-5 overall and 7-2 league play.

The Huntington Beach, Calif., native ranks second in the GNAC with 10.87 assists per set and leads the 10-team league with 0.46 aces per set.

The Seawolves return to action this week when they host Saint Martin's (Thur., Oct. 18, 7 p.m.) and Western Oregon (Sat., Oct. 20, 7 p.m.) at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
