PORTLAND, Ore. - Alaska Anchorage outside hitter Sarah Johnson has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week for volleyball, the league office announced Monday.

The freshman from South Anchorage High School posted a .308 attack percentage and averages of 3.40 kills and 3.20 digs per set as the Seawolves earned 5-set home wins over Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene to start the league season.

After posting 16 kills and 15 digs on Thursday against the Wildcats, Johnson helped UAA run its win streak to six on Saturday with career-highs of 18 kills, 17 digs and a .341 attack percentage against the Crusaders.

She leads the Seawolves with four double-doubles and is one of just three GNAC players to rank among the top-15 league leaders in both kills (2.81 kps) and digs (2.92 dps) averages.

UAA plays its first GNAC road matches this week when it travels to Monmouth, Ore., to face Western Oregon (Thur., Sept. 20, 6 pm ADT) and Lacey, Wash., to face Saint Martin's (Sat., Sept. 22, 6 pm ADT).
